Courageous Wholeness Coaching is grounded in the following belief:

The systems and structures around us are a reflection of our current way of being.

If we want to create new developmental infrastructure, than we must cultivate news ways of being within ourselves to make those new systems possible.

This understanding of the work of change reflects the key assumption of our Dual Journey model: The processes of inner and outer change are too interconnected to separate.

To create the developmental infrastructure that makes inner development at scale possible, we must learn how to lead as hosts rather than lead as heros. We can only do this if we have learned to work skillfully with our need to provide direction and answers and learned to manage our own hungers for control.

We must learn to lead with questions rather than always providing answers. We can only do this if genuinely value inquiry and believe that dialogue co-creates meaning and insight.

We must must complement traditional professional development experiences that provide people will skills and knowlege (the “Know” level of The Flame) with times and spaces in which we treat others as already whole and complete at the “Be” level of The Flame. We can only do that if we know how to relate to our own way of being in that way as well.

This is the kind of deep inner work that senior leaders must do as they walk the path to creating new developmental infrastructure for inner development in their organizations.

This is the work of Courageous Wholeness coaching, and I’m uniquely qualified to guide clients through this Dual Journey of inner and outer change. I bring the following experiences to every conversation I have with a client:

  • Harvard doctorate in adaptive leadership and human development

  • Certification as an Integral Master Coach through Integral Coaching Canada

  • Inner Development Goals Ambassador (Mistral Cohort)

  • Two decades of experience as a senior leader building developmental infrastructure at high-performing nonprofits

  • Published author and thought leader focused on this work

This is deep, transformational work that will shift your understanding of who you are, how change happens, and what it means to lead.
I guide clients through this work with skill, deep compassion, and wisdom.

What does it look like in practice?

In practical terms, a standard Courageous Wholeness Coaching Engagement lasts for eight sessions occuring over the course of four months. Clients meet with Max for a series of one-hour virtual coaching calls that occur roughly once every other week. Clients will do some foundational reflection work between sessions #1 and #2; after that, they will complete daily practices and reflection exercises that should only take 5-10 minutes a day to complete.

Testimonials

  • “Coaching with Max Klau was literally life changing. I have had many life coaches and mentors before but Max’s work is the deep work. It goes far beyond goal setting and holding you to account. With Max’s guidance and space, I have shifted my very consciousness and ‘levelled up’ moving closer to the person I barely dreamed of prior to the course.”

  • “Max was my coach last year… and I am still tapping into the lessons I gained from our time together. Life changing is right! The experience was unlike any development program I’ve ever been a part of. It’s hard work and nothing is simply handed to you but the deep digging you’re forced to do will leave you in a place you’d never thought you’d be. Max is so tuned into YOU that it feels like you’re the only one he is supporting and coaching.”

    Allishia B., Past Client

  • “Max helped me through a big transition and I was able to enjoy every minute of it. It's really hard for me to describe the work that we did together, because it didn't feel like work. He understood after the intake session what I needed and tailored his coaching specifically for me. He helped me tap into and align with my core beliefs and intuition. If you are looking to increase your capacity for leading, living, and loving in the world, you will not go wrong working with Max.”

    Craig T., Past Client

  • “My coaching process with Max was a revelation and a glorious journey at the same time. Doing deep work is never comfortable but his empathetic approach makes it so much easier to stay in the process and get immense growth value. The foundation of the integral coaching is already quite phenomenal and Max adds his unique brand of active listening and his life's work in leadership.”

    Sanjana A., Past Client

  • “Max is an incredible coach and mentor. Working with him has been truly transformational. He has helped me to become a more compassionate and capable person and leader, and more generally, to better understand how to learn and grow in life. His coaching is structured and purposeful, while also flexible and leaving room for discovery along the way. For anyone who has the chance to work with Max, you will not regret it.”
