Wholeness is the destination.
Courage is the path.
Travel further with an experienced guide.
Complexity is everywhere. Uncertainty is constant. The velocity of change is unrelenting.
Many leaders seeking to navigate these challenges soon find themselves at the edges of their current level of development. The most urgent and vital questions are not about how to become more high-achieving or more technically skilled and efficient; they are deeper questions that demand inner work:
What is mine to do at this critical moment?
How do I cultivate a way of being that allows me to be with this complexity in ways that are skillful and resilient?
How do I live with courage and integrity in this time of chaos?
How do I become more conscious of the parts of myself that are holding me back?
How do I help those who depend on me do the same?
Courageous Wholeness is not about doing more—it’s about becoming more whole.
It’s about bravely turning toward the parts of ourselves we’ve hidden or disowned. It’s about recognizing the interplay between our inner life and the systems we move through daily. And it’s about learning to stay grounded and centered in the face of complexity and uncertainty.
If your primary goal is to gain technical skills, hustle harder, or climb the career ladder faster, this isn’t the coaching for you.
If you believe that this moment of chaos and change is inviting each of us to evolve towards new ways of being and relating that allow each of us to call forth a more peaceful, purposeful, healthy and sustainable world, this might be the right path for you to explore.
What is Courageous Wholeness Coaching?
This unique and powerful approach to coaching has been developed by Dr. Max Klau, an innovative scholar/practioner of leadership development. A lifelong student of inner and outer change, Max has a Harvard doctorate in developmental psychology and certification as an Integral Master Coach. He has designed and implemented leadership development programs that have guided thousands of individuals through the work of embracing light and confronting shadow. Courageous Wholeness Coaching has emerged from Max’s efforts to weave all of these distinct strands of expertise into an integrated, comprehensive approach to coaching that is both accessible and transformational.
Courageous Wholeness Coaching invites clients to engage in the following work:
Connect with with their own deepest sense of purpose and mission, creating clarity and focus.
Confront and integrate their “shadow”—the unseen habits, fears, and blind spots that limit authentic leadership.
Cultivate greater compassion for oneself in ways that make it possible to offer greater compassion to others.
Undertake a journey of transformation at the level of one’s way of being.
Achieve levels of insight and skill at inner development that allow for ongoing self-transformation.
The Result? A more powerful, whole, and impactful version of yourself—leading not just from authority, but from authenticity.
This is not fundamentally about developing specific skills or gaining new tools (although that will happen!).
It’s also not fundamentally about becoming more high-achieving or productive (although that may be a possible outcome as well). It is about shifting one’s way of being in ways to one that is more integrated, more authentic, more courageous, and more whole. When that kind of change happens, we begin calling forth new dynamics in all areas of our life.
In practical terms, a standard Courageous Wholeness Coaching Engagement lasts for eight sessions occuring over the course of four months. Clients meet with Max for a series of one-hour virtual coaching calls that occur roughly once every other week. Clients will do some foundational reflection work between sessions #1 and #2; after that, they will complete daily practices and reflection exercises that should only take 5-10 minutes a day to complete.
