Strategic Advising

The work of the Center for Courageous Wholeness is grounded in a powerful realization:

We have reached the limits of our ability to solve systemic crises without leaders confronting their shadow.

This requires inner development, and it demands far more than a one-time workshop or technical training. This requires building new developmental infrastructure—new practices, mindsets, and spaces —that make it possible to guide large numbers of leaders though a journey of inner development in ways that are powerful and scalable.

The Center provides strategic advising to foundations, civic institutions, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders seeking to build this developmental infrastructure here in the U.S. and around the world.

Executive Coaching

I coach civic-minded senior leaders who feel called to bring the infrastructure of inner development to their organizations.

More and more senior leaders are beginning to recognize that their people are feeling overwhelmed by the complexity and uncertainty of the world today. They also recognize that existing approaches to HR and leadership development are not sufficient in supporting people to navigate this complexity with courage and skill.

They understand the need to double down on supporting the growth and development of others, and feel called to bring this developmental infrastructure to their organizations. They have also encountered skepticism, doubt, and resistance to their efforts to make inner development a priority.

I have learned that leaders cannot implement this work like it’s a technical training; they must develop the mindsets that support this approach and embody the values and ways of being that make inner development at scale possible.

I’ve done this work at large nonprofits and scrappy start-ups, and I have a unique ability to coach clients through the journey of brining this work into the world.

Organizational Consulting

The Center for Courageous Wholeness helps mission-driven organizations build the developmental infrastructure required to engage staff and other stakeholders through a process of inner development powerfully and at scale.

Over the course of two decades of experimentation and innovation at high performing nonprofits, Dr. Max Klau developed an approach to integrating a powerful, scalable process of inner development into purpose-driven organizations. He tells the story of how he arrived at this model, how it works, and how it is currently having an impact in the world in his new book, Developing Servant Leaders at Scale: How To Do It, and Why It Matters, with a foreword by renowned Harvard Business School professor Rosabeth Moss Kanter.

Max Klau founded the Center for Courageous Wholeness to bring this work into the world. To learrn more about our Organizational Consulting Services, click here.
