Experience the Dual Journey
In a world marked by complexity, uncertainty, burnout, disengagment and disconnection, it’s clear that people need more than a new technical skill or motivational speech. The moment we are in calls for more than just another training; it calls for transformation.
The work of Courageous Wholeness is grounded in the belief that transformation is always a Dual Journey of both outer change and inner change. We believe that the dynamics we experience in the world around us are a reflection of our innermost ways of being; if we want to create meaningful and lasting shifts, then we must focus simultaneously on inner and outer change. We must invite people to undertake a journey of personal growth, exploration, and curiosity, and then guide them through that journey skillfully.
We know what you are thinking:
“Sounds great, but this just isn’t possible. There is no way that Frank from Accounting is going to engage in any kind of deep introspection, and our COO is NOT going to confront her shadow in a room full of colleagues. You can’t do that kind of powerful personal transformation work in a conference room on a Tuesday morning.”
Actually, it IS possible.
We’ve done it again and again, with thousands of people, from front-line staff to senior leaders, from civic activists to sitting members of Congress, from academics in Boston to social entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
We’ve figured out how to do meaningful personal growth in the context of work, and we’ve learned how to get past even the most intense resistance to reflection and vulnerability. We’ve learned how to do this work powerfully in ways that engage not just the enthusiasts, but also the skeptics, the cynics, and the technical experts who don’t do “soft stuff”.
The story of how we figured out how to overcome all of these obstacles is told in Developing Servant Leaders at Scale: How to Do It and Why It Matters, and we’ve created the Center for Courageous Wholeness to bring this work into the world at a moment when this approach to transformation is desperately needed.
Imagine what becomes possible when a group of colleagues engages in the following work:
-Clarifying their own personal leadership mission
-Confronting their personal shadow
-Discerning what cause or purpose they feel called to serve from this place of wholeness
-Learning how to lead as a host rather than as a hero
-Discovering how to identify the most compelling questions that surface as they confront the complexity of their lives
-Developing the ability to engage with their organization as BOTH a dynamic, living system and as a Newtonian machine
-Exploring how to live and lead with integrity and courage by becoming more whole
